Heating Oil Tanks

Heating Oil Tanks

Over time water and sludge can build up at the bottom of domestic heating oil tanks. This can cause all manner of problems for heating boilers and oil-fired cookers such as Agas and Rayburns. Water can enter the tank in different ways. Common reasons include damaged vents and caps allowing rain water in and condensation forming due to daily temperature changes accumulating into water drops over time. Any water that enters the tank will sink to the bottom of the tank and sit under the oil.

The outlet on typical heating oil tanks take the oil from just above the bottom of the tank in order to avoid taking this sludge and water into the oil system. Unfortunately over time this accumulation of water and sludge can build up to the level of the outlet. This can lead to problems like clogs in the fuel line causing failure and damage to your system.

We provide a residential oil tank cleaning services to safeguard against any heating trouble you may face due to water contamination or sludge accumulation. With the regular and frequent cleaning of your home oil tanks we can help you prevent damage to and failure of your heating system.

We offer a number of services;

Option 1 – Water Removal

By simply pumping the water content from the tank bottom, thus ensuring that the oil level drops below the outlet. This would be considered a short term fix.

Option 2 – Domestic Oil Tank Cleaning

By pumping the liquid contents from the tank into temporary containers we can give your oil tank a thorough internal clean removing all sludge and water before returning the contents.

Option 3 – Domestic Oil Tank Cleaning with Fuel Polishing

As with option 2, but with the inclusion of passing the contents of the tank through our mobile filtration unit to ensure any sludge or water suspended in the contents is removed and the oil is perfectly clean before returning it to your tank. This is our recommended option to ensure the long term health and reliability of your system.
